This incident occurred the night before thanksgiving. The victim Porcha Thompson and her bother had turned into a parking spot at walmart. When the were rammed by someone in a black SUV with individual inside were waving knifes and obscenities. When Porcha got out to access the damages she was struck by the suv and dragged then the suspects drove off. The is in the hospital unable to breathe on her own on a ventilator,her organs are failing. Its looking pretty grime for the victim. This is just a senseless crime. Did this really have to get violent over something as simple as a parking space. This person that committed this crime is just a vile individual with no regards to human life. When this person is caught I hope that the judge uses this person as an example and throw the book at them. This sadden me. The victim was only 20 years old. I would still be upset if the victim was any age.

This happened in a prison in Houston, Texas. This inmate was paralyzed and shackled to a wheelchair some how over cam the guards, also taking a gun in the process. How in the world did this happen. The senator is outrage as he should be. This was a dangerous prisoner in years prior he had used his wheelchair to pin his wife against a wall and stabbed seventeens times her, also stabbing a person that was trying to stop this assault from happening. All this happened at the prison visit.

Two years ago it was questioned if the inmate even needed to have the use of a wheelchair. The prison guards are blaming the medical personnel, and medical personnel is blaming the prison guards.  Where is the accountability?

This prisoner was in one of the more “secure” prison systems in Texas. Arcade Comeaux Jr. was in the ad seg devision which is suppose to be a more secure area of the prison because these criminals labeled as the more violent inmates, they are housed alone typically on lock down 23 hours a day. Some one is playing a blind eye I just don’t understand how this was allowed to happen. If this prison is corrupt then proper punishment needs to be handed down even if that is lose of there jobs. I’m just in total disbelief.

There has been much controversy surrounding the H1N1 flu shot. People are skeptical of taking the shot for fear of the side effects and becoming ill with the actual virus. I have heard many personally say they were not going to take the shot, and that they usually don’t take the flu shot yearly and didn’t see why they should for this flu.

I think that one, it is important to take this vaccine because this particular flu has been known to kill seemingly healthy children. Two, I think it is our personal responsibility as a community to take the vaccine to not only protect ourselves, but other people around us. I think people often tend to forget that the elderly community, and the sick, like people with low immune systems live amongst us, and we don’t protect ourselves, we put other people besides ourselves at risk. And with this flu, it is not just a risk of becoming extremely ill with vomiting and body aches, the risk is much higher, the risk is possible death.

Just like with any vaccine, there is risk of side effects and even death. But, with that being said, the percentage of people who actually have bad reactions is so few and far in between, it should not deter us from the shot. Yes, some may become so ill and death may prevail them, however, millions will be saved to those who may have adverse reactions. Those that do become ill or die from this vaccine, you are a hero for those that live through this epidemic.

Get your H1N1 flu shot when it’s available!

I find it an interesting concept. I can’t say that I agree with having inmates pay for everything offered or provided to them in jail/prison such as food. However, I do believe it would benefit the state and tax payers if inmates were to pay for their room and board and the extras. They are already expected to pay for their commosarries and other items, and beleive it may be a deturant to coming back to jail if they were required to pay for their stay. However many dollars a day, they would learn the responsibility of paying for housing and health care. As it stands now, I believe inmates have it too easy in jail/prison. Free food, health care, education, and entertainment. Heck, it almost sounds better than the life I have to pay for for my freedom! It seems some inmates have no problem going back to jail/prison because they are so comfortable and it takes the pressures of life of them when they do find themselves locked behind bars. As far as paying for their food or things such as their G.E.D., I think that they should be able to receive these things  free and that would benefit our society as a whole, so that they are coming back into society educated and ready to be productive citizens.

High School is one of the hardest times in any one person’s growing years, and I can only imagine the bravery it must of taken for this young man to step out on faith and dress how he felt comfortable. The school insist he is violating their dress code policy by having his wig past his shoulders. Well, that may be so for the boys. However, this young man is not just wearing his hair long, he also wears full make up and a dress and stiletto high heels. Therefore, I don’t think we would find several other boys wanting to break the school policy of having his hair past his shoulders if they bent the rule for this particular teenager. He should probably be resptected and considered of the female gender and go on with his education as such.

I know from experience with my own children, I see young girls with their stomachs showing, and thier pants low and their underwear exposed, and  boys who wear their pants so low, their undergarments as a part of their uniform. None of which get sent home, but all of which violate the school’s policy. Yet, we will send home a teenage boy appropriately dressed as a girl, because simply he is dressed as another gender.

I think we have more things to be concerned about, than one boy who dresses in what’s comfortable for him as a human being, such as the lack of teachers, better education, and a violent free school enviornment.

The parent did contact the school, which did not give her a fast response and they did not mention in the article whether the teacher will suffer any consequences for actions in the matter. In fact, I didn’t see in the article if the school system even sided with the teacher or the parent. I did like the response the grandfather of the first grader gave to the incident, “I’d have to ask if in the first quarter of the school year, she’s at her wits end with a 7- year-old?,” questioned Jarred McMillin, the first-grader’s grandfather. “What’s she going to be doing to the 7-year-olds in May when your child’s been in that school for seven months?” That is a great point, I would hate to wonder myself what she might do at that point.

Since when did we start asking our children to go from bad behavior to animal behavior and call it acceptable? What happen to contacting a parent at home to handle the issue the child is having during school hours? What happen to standing out in the hallway which became it’s own class on my roster as a child? What happen to sending the child to the principals office for a stern talking? What happen to detention after school and making them erase the chalk board and empty trash? What happen to recommending therapy if need be before we dish out a punishment of personal humiliation and setting the child up to be taunted by other children for the rest of the school year?

I will hope that the teacher does not go unpunished herself and that there is a lesson learned from her response to the situation. It is my hope that the parents find the solution to their child’s behavior issues in the classroom, right after they remove him from her class!
